Central Park and Zoo, Rajshahi is considered to be one of the major entertainment centers in the city. The park has been set up over a vast area covered with lush greeneries. The zoo is a major attraction for the visitors and the local residents especially for the children. Central Park and Zoo, Rajshahi is home to various species of animals which are the center of attractions at the park and zoo.
Rajshahi Central Park and Zoo was established in 1972 on a large area covering 100 acres of land. The beauty and grace of the park attracts the visitors coming to the city. The popular site houses a host of animals and plants that enhance the beauty of the entire area. After the initial establishment, city corporation took the ownership of the park and spent a large amount of money for its renovation and development. After the reconstruction, the park is able to attract more and more visitors every year.
The tourists and local visitors can watch about 50 various species of animals. There are total 400 animals kept in side the zoo including 200 deer. Other animals which are worth mentioning include a Royal Bengal Tiger, a lion, a beer, two Ghariyals and some birds. The animals are kept in a good condition and are taken care of regularly.
There is a large aviary placed inside the Central Park and Zoo in Rajshahi where one can see a large number of birds from various species. The visitors love to watch the birds chirping and playing on their own. Some trees are kept inside the aviary for the birds only for their stay. The cages where the animals and birds stay are cleaned on a regular basis to maintain the hygiene.
The visitors also get to see an artificial hill located on the South of the park which increases the beauty and elegance of the place. The children's park is also situated at the West of the park. The children are very curious to visit the place because of its rich collection of animals and birds as well as the park built especially for them inside the zoo. The rare species of plants and trees inside the park are well maintained and taken good care of.
The park is also a good place for enjoying a picnic and day out. It is one of the popular tourist attractions in Rajshahi which offer some facilities like canteen, picnic corners, bathrooms and veterinary services.
